My JCW Cooper Build!

Well some of you have see my past BMW 335i. I ended up selling it because it was kind of boring to me compared to the Evo IX I owned before it. Soto compromise something fun yet classy I picked up a JCW Mini. I will use this thread to show the full build.

Any way on to the project....

This car is being built as a daily driver / stock class - Time Attack car. It will be competing in Redline Time Attack's time attack series with it in the next few up coming months.

The Full Build will also be done in detail on its own blog: www.projectR56.com

I purchased the car from South Bay Mini and its a 2009 Factory JCW, in Midnight Black with: xenons, JCW Version 2 Aero kit, ipod/usb, sirius, sport suspension, rear fog lights, white tail lights, and thats about it as far as options go.

Here is the car in stock form :

Step 1) Suspension - The factory suspension is good but I wanted some adjustability so for the suspension I ordered up the following parts:

-BC Racing Coilovers
-HSport Competition Rear Sway Bar
-HSport Competition Camber Arms
-Power Grid Adjustable End Links

So far I have all the parts installed except the rear arms. For now here are some shots of the parts off the car:

Coils:

Fronts:

Rears:

Sway Bars:

Adjustable End Links:

Step 2 - Wheels & Tires - The OEM JCW Wheels are cool but too narrow for my tastes. So I ordered up some CCW Classics for the project. These will at first be the all around wheels till I buy a 2nd set of wheels for track use only, but the track wheels will only be different by size as I plan to run a 17x8" for track duty.

Specs: 18x8 +32 Offset

Tires come in on Wed so for now here are the test fit shots:

I should have the wheels on later tonight, and if the HSport Rear Camber arms come in today I will be getting the car corner balanced and aligned tomorrow.

UPDATE:

HSport Arms In and Alignment all done

On a fluke I was telling my friend that I wanted to find a 17x7.5 light weight wheel for under $1,000 for track days. He showed me this Fit that had its Volk Racing TE37s for sale for $900 obo ... it was too good of a deal to pass on so I sent him payment today and will pick them up in So Cal on Sunday

What they look like on a Mini:

Didnt really want to spend money on a 2nd set of wheels right now, but I basically got Volks cheaper then Racing Dynamics or Enkeis

Anyone want to buy my JCW wheels ..... LOL

and still need to put in the stud kit prior to mounting the new wheels:

also I loaded up all the trim parts and dropped them off at paint this morning....

-Euro Fenders
-JCW Challenge Lip
-Door Handels
-Cooper Gas Door
-Headlight Trim
-Tail Light Trim

Also I need to get some of these wheels out of my garage lol

OEM Jetta GLI Wheels
CCW Classic
Volk TE37s

I feel like discount tire ...... speaking of which I just ordered different tires today as Im getting a set of Falken 452s for the CCWs since Im going to get a real sticky set of tires for the Volks.

nice. good luck w/ the build and keep us informed. i'm starting a track-only build of my 06 and will post on this forum as well. i have several track-rat friends running the BC coilovers and they have been happy (and fast). the powergrid links are great as well.

I thought the new factory JCW cars came with Brembo brakes? Yours look like the JCW kit upgrade that's on most MCS'. Sharp looking Mini though, they are fun little cars indeed.

Wow! I never would have imagined CCW Classics look so good on a Mini! They look absolutely amazing! I think you've just revealed to me my new favorite wheel for the Mini!

Yep the JCW brakes are the Brembo's 12.4" rotors and 4 pistons.
