Vicious Supra Sounds Off with Rolling Anti-lag

By -

With 1250 horses to the wheels and rolling anti-lag, this built Toyota Supra is clean, fast and makes all the right noises.

If you don’t want to brake boost for a rolling launch, rolling anti-lag is a solid option. Although rolling anti-lag may save on brake pads and discs, it’s very hard on the driveline. Brake boosting keeps the transmission loaded (and turbos spooled) before launching so there isn’t as much of a shock when all the torque unloads onto it. And a custom 3.2 stroker motor running on E85 fuel, nitrous, and 38 PSI of boost unloads a lot of torque.

To deal with that the Supra’s owner, Danny Roes, has fitted upgraded parts through the drivetrain. That includes a carbon fiber driveshaft, TRD limited-slip diff, and a triple disc clutch. However, in a true show of faith, he’s still using the factory 6-speed transmission.

So, turn up the volume and enjoy the sights and sounds of this well-contained monster of a car.

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars. His first job was as a mechanic and then trained as a driving instructor before going into media production.

The automotive itch never left though, and he realized writing about cars is his true calling. However, that doesn’t stop him from also hosting the Both Hand Drive podcast.
