Cars-N-Coffee at MFD Classic Motors
1994 Viper and a very clean Toyota Landcruiser.
MFD Classic Motors in Traverse City Michigan. If you’re ever in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit.
Living on the “North Coast”, Michigan’s Northern Lower Peninsula, is sometimes tough for a car enthusiast. We have long winters, short summers, no local road courses, only a few small car clubs, and did I mention the long, cold, snowy, car destroying winters?
Thankfully we have MFD Classic Motors. The facility is located in the heart of Traverse City and houses an impressive collection of cars. MFD recently hosted a Cars and Coffee event. Granted, we may not have the turnouts that the west coast gets at their Saturday morning get-togethers however, there was some pretty impressive hardware on hand. I was impressed by the diversity of cars and the good nature of everyone at the event. There was no import vs. domestic, or exotic vs. muscle. Just true enthusiasm for everything automotive.
BMW Isetta. I’d still take one of these over a Smart car any day.
1955 T-Bird. I like the Sebring backdrop.
Porsche Speedster. Sure it’s a kit, but the attention to detail and modern, refined interior make for a nice daily driver.
I’m pretty sure I’ve been in planes smaller than this Buick.
Ferrari 348 Spider.
Mercedes AMG SLS interior.
Mercedes AMG SLS. The exhaust note of that 6.3 is perfection to the ears.
Fully race prepped Lotus Elan.
Porsche, Alfa Romero, Austin Healey, and Audi.
What a lucky kid to have had one of these back in the day!
This orange BMW was one of the cleanest I’d ever seen.
The pearl paint on this Type 181 “Thing” was unbelievable. Pictures can not do that paint job justice.
Looking for a little muscle? This was a very well built truck. The attention to detail was incredible.
Yeah, just pull the 911 in next to the GS and under the ’56 Chevy.
There really was a nice selection, for all automotive tastes, in attendance.
Next to the ’39 Chevy was this 930 Slant nose awaiting a full restoration.
Datsun 510 receiving a little between race care.
I had to borrow this picture from the MFD website. During the event the car was on a life receiving suspension work. This car is chassis number 1 of 5 built for the Speed Vision GT series in the early 2000’s. The car was later used by Audi of America’s racing division for drivers to practice. Basically, if you had a favorite Audi team driver racing here in the states, odds are he sat behind the wheel of this AWD, twin turbo beast.
This Plymouth was an eBay find with amazingly low miles.
This Lamborghini Jalpa was amazingly clean.
A very clean pair of Studebaker Avanti coupes. the white car was used as a dealership promotional car.
A quick little Austin Healey.
The red car is an Allard. The cream colored car is a 1952 Glasspar G2, the first fibergalss bodied production car. Not pictured is an Allard coupe, one of two in existence. The second Allard is en route to the Goodwood festival where it will be prominently displayed.
I would love to toss this little Bimmer around a track.
This 2002 has some very impressive autographs on the bonnet.
The local tuning group also had some members in attendance.
