Porsche 718 Boxster S

The newly-unveiled Porsche 718 Boxster S may have lost its 6 cylinder engine for a turbocharged 4 cylinder, but this hot little German red pepper looks to be feistier than ever!

We had a chance to witness the North American unveiling of the 718 Boxster S at the New York International Auto Show, and learned that one shouldn’t get carried away with the idea of a smaller engine, as Porsche promises the 718 to be faster, lighter, and even more engaging than previous generations.

The two turbocharged engines that will propel this topless beauty are: a 2.0 liter 296 horsepower motor in the base Boxster, and a 2.5 liter with a whopping 345 horsepower in the more expensive and fun Boxster S.

Porsche will offer a standard 6 speed manual gearbox for both models, but can upgrade to a fancy and lightning-quick PDK for a little over 3 grand, which also shaves a couple off tenths off the 0-60 mph time.
