Chris Harris Praises the Lamborghini Huracan Performante

‘This is, far and away, the best Lambo I’ve driven in a long, long time.’

As Lamborghinis go, the Huracan Performante has our attention captured firmly in its grasp. As Chris Harris describes it in this video, the Performante model is akin to Porsche’s RS lineup. It’s lighter, more nimble, has special chassis bits, special active aero bits, and some seriously sticky technically-street-legal track rubber. All of that adds up to one seriously potent Lambo. Don’t forget, the Huracan is the smaller V10 one, but it beats up on its bigger and more powerful Aventador brother at the track.

As with everything Harris does, we’re happy to see the diminutive Top Gear host hauling ass around a track in a fancy Italian, but we’re a little bummed that it was such a short video. We could have listened to Chris talk about this bright orange machine for at least another 5 minutes, and it goes without saying that we will always want more time to enjoy the V10’s high-RPM shrieking exhaust notes. Then again, we’ll take what we can get.

While Harris lament’s the Huracan’s four-wheel drive system as being tricky at the limit, bouncing between corner-entry understeer and throttle-on oversteer, once he gets to grips with the car’s character, it puts a serious smile on his face. Isn’t that really what cars like this are all about? Even with all of its flaws laid bare, if it doesn’t put a smile on your face every time you fire it up or drive it around the block, what’s the point?
