‘The Best Driving Road in the World?’ Jabal Jais probably in the discussion.

We’re used to seeing the video of supercars carving up the Southern California canyons and the occasional Alpine pass in Europe. However, this video shows us a different, perhaps more fantastic, mountain landscape. With a McLaren 650S and Ferrari 488 at his disposal, Mr JWW heads into the Al Hajar Mountains. Those two cars romp around the Jabal Jais mountain road in the United Arab Emirates.

The area’s name has many spellings, but the spelling hardly matters. What does matter is the three-lane road through the mountain pass works perfectly for 650S and 488. That Jabal Jais largely looks void of living beings (except the occasional goat) so they have ample free space to run. Eons have carved the bare-rock mountains from the desert. The craggy peaks resemble a science-fiction film’s desert planet. The sculpted, futuristic shapes of the McLaren and Ferrari drop naturally perfectly into that background. The video host calls it the “Stelvio Pass of the Middle East.” We think it might be even better than that.

The video also features a short appearance from a Lykan Hypersport. With its totally over-the-top carbon bodywork and suicide-style reverse-scissor doors, the Hypersport would have fit perfectly into Jabal Jais’ alien terrain.

As it is, we get a few moments to appreciate the utter insanity of a Emirates produced hypercar with a 780-horsepower twin-turbocharged Flat-6 engine. Porsche tuners RUF developed that 3.7-liter engine for this car and that mill can propel the Hypersport to 60 in less than three seconds. The Abu Dhabi police own one of the seven Hypersports produced, which means that Mr JWW featured one of the remaining six sold privately. The price tag on one? $1.7 million.

Take 13 minutes of your life to appreciate the beauty of this romp through Jabal Jais.
