The Huracan Performante and the McLaren 720S represent the best each manufacturer has to offer, but which is faster?
When it comes to the 2018 class of supercars it’s hard to ignore a few noteworthy players. Sure, the Ferrari 488 is stunning, but it’s everything you would expect from the Prancing Horse – it’s refined, powerful, and quite romantic. On the other hand, players like the Ford GT and the Aston Martin DB11 are so niche that they might as well belong in a different world.
Then we have two rambunctious and high-pedigree supercars: The McLaren 720S and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Both are ill-mannered, hot-tempered, and they don’t give two effs about a damn thing. They might as well be called “Honeybadgers.” While the British-ness of the McLaren should, in theory, make it the more rational of the two, we think the Woking bunch forgot to tame their beast before releasing it into the wild.
As this video by DragTimes proves, neither one of these bad boys is short on power, or attitude. The Huracan Performante sports a 5.2-liter V10 with a massive 640 horsepower. The Raging Bull is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and utilizes all-wheel drive to get up and go. The McLaren, on the other hand, utilizes a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with an astonishing 710 horsepower. It also employs a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, but unlike the Lambo, it sends all that power to the rear wheels only.
