Pagani Zonda Gets Rear-Ended by Kia Cargo Van!
Hint: Don’t Smash Into the Pagani of Your Dreams While Taking a Crappy Video of It
If there’s one thing we hate more than reporting on Hollywood celebrities, it’s reporting automotive casualties. Especially when they involve beautiful, and painstakingly crafted hypercars like the Pagani Zonda. Sadly, today is one of those days. (Insert sad emoji.)
Not long ago we witnessed the annihilation of a Koenigsegg CCX in Mexico, and now we’re in for another somber accident in Latin America. Argentinian business man Jorge Gomez is the owner of a Pagani Zonda F, along with several other exotics. Gomez was driving at approximately 40 mph down a busy street when he claims traffic suddenly came to a halt. He quickly reacted and stepped on the massive Brembo brakes, but the driver of the Kia commercial van behind him didn’t. As you can see from the video below the driver of the Kia failed to stop on time, and smashed into the back of the $1.5 million dollar beauty.
Even worse is the fact that the video that’s circulated the entire globe, was filmed by the very passenger of the Kia. That’s right, the passenger was recording the Pagani sighting, and just as he stuck his arm out to get a clearer shot of the car—crash! If you’re like us, you cringed while watching. It’s painful.
Jorge Gomez isn’t your average rich dude. He is a rags-to-riches kind of guy, and he told Autoblog Argentina it took him 11 years to pay-off the Zonda. In fact, he is a good friend of Mr. Horacio Pagani, who we’ve had a pleasure to meet before. (Truly a kind and easy-to-talk-to guy.)
Gomez said the damage is only cosmetic, and Mr. Pagani has already initiated logistics to fix it!
