Koenigsegg One:1 on the Nürburgring Looks Like Scene from Star Wars

In March the Nürburgring removed the speed limits it had imposed on the track, and, in doing so, reopened the doors for potentials to set new records at the famed track. So it caught a lot of people’s attention when word got out that Koenigsegg was going to be at the track with its magnificent machine, the One:1.

The current record at the track was set by Porsche’s 918 Spyder at 6:57, an unreal time by any standards. Thus far, the One:1 hasn’t recorded any runs, but the company previously said that it’d destroy the 918, the McLaren P1, and the Ferrari LaFerrari. That’s cool and all, but it hasn’t, and until that, saying it don’t mean shit.

The claim certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibility. The One:1’s numbers are ballistic. Koenigsegg points out that it’s the first production car (if you can call 7 examples “production”) to register a megawatt of power. Its 5.0-liter V8 puts out 1,341 horsepower and more than 1,000 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 RPMs. All of that for a car that weighs 1,341 kg. Hence One:1, as you all probably remember. This video isn’t timed or anything, but it’s still wonderful to watch such an achievement with such an extreme look prancing around the ‘Ring.
