Lamborghini Gallardo’s Successor – The Huracan

The name, which means “hurricane” in Spanish. Its outgoing nameplate, Gallardo, meant “valiant, brave”. It’s an interesting notion for Lamborghini as a company and where it intends to go with this car. We’re hoping for something even more aggressive, outlandish. Something that’ll blow us away (pardon the puns).
According to Auto Express, the Lambo trademarked the name on April 19, 2012 along with the Urus—the firm’s SUV concept (which was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show mid-year 2012).
Here’s what to expect:
- Naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10
- Six-speed manual OR seven-speed twin-clutch gearbos
- ~600bhp
- New aluminum spaceframe platform that will share underpinnings with the next Audi R8 (2015)
The new bull’s design will be inspired by the Sesto Elemento (2010) and will incorporate the Aventador jet fighter-style flip-up starter. What we know is the Huracana’s definitely is succeeding one of Lamborghini’s highest profile companies to date – the Gallardo sold more than any other Lamborghini (14,022 sold in its 10-year production run).
