Lamborghini Huracan Test-driven by Friendly Canadian Police Office

Lamborghini Huracan driven by nice-guy cop after being pulled over.

When you first play this VICE Canada video of a supercar rally in Canada, you probably think you know its direction as soon as the word “police” is uttered. However, in a surprising and completely Canadian turn of events, everything goes with perfect smoothness. The video culminates with a Canuck officer taking a Lamborghini Huracan for a spin around the block at the owner’s behest.

The Lamborghini resides at the center of the video and you may very well have seen it before. The Huracan wears decals for the Royal Canadian Air Force and gets spotted regularly in Ontario. After politely asking the drivers to behave a bit more respectably on the highway, the officer engages the Lambo owner in a friendly, extremely Canadian conversation. Before long, the owner steps out and invites the officer to borrow the car for a few minutes.

The officer cracks jokes about the V10 exhaust sounding almost as good as his cruiser. Then he sets off on a short test drive around the block. Some days at work turn out better than others. And some interactions with police go better than others, too.

The Lamborghini in the video, ironically, was involved in a big traffic stop of a similar rally. That one resulted in several impounded performance cars and a dozen arrests. It’s not clear if this Huracan was among those impounded, but we suspect this VICE video was filmed before that incident.

Regardless, we find it refreshing for an officer to act with genuine interest and coolness to the supercar. And even moreso, the car’s owner returns the respect. We know these kinds of things can and do happen in the United States, but the whole exchange seems so perfectly Canadian.

We think there’s probably a lesson in there about engendering respect between the police and enthusiasts. Plenty of cops enjoy turning wrenches and driving cool cars when they can, after all.
