Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte Crushes Luxury Super Car Corruption Scandal 6SpeedOnline.com

Lamborghini, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz models all confiscated and crushed by Phillipines President Rodrigo Duterte’s orders.

The Philippines has become a rather unfriendly place as of late, in no small part due to President Duterte’s iron fist presidency. Between his governmental shake-ups and brutal war on drugs, very little seems to slow down Duterte (Pictured above, center-left). His latest victim on the war against corruption? A Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 997 911 and a Mercedes-Benz SLK.

As CNN reports, in an effort to scare would-be offenders, the Duterte government confiscated these luxury vehicles from smugglers and condemned them to a public crushing. The President himself was in attendance, seemingly pleased to watch the cars go from exotic metal to scrap metal. All in, some 800 cars were sent to the crusher.

Of the bunch, it is the Lamborghini Gallardo that seems to be the most oddly photogenic. Of course, seeing a scrapped Lambo pulls at our heartstrings, it is sad seeing a super car meet it’s demise, after all.

Interestingly, the Philippines’ President showcased his edict via twitter, which, we suppose, is how one learns about Presidential happens now. Politics aside, it certainly is sad to see cars getting crushed, especially nice ones. That said, we can’t help but wonder what will happen to the cars after they’ve been scrapped. A Lambo V10 swap popping up on eBay sounds pretty good to us.
