Lamborghini Urus: It’s Time to Play With Its Online Configurator

We spent a good chunk of time playing with the Lamborghini Urus configurator and one thing is for sure, we want to drive it very, very badly.

It seems that Christmas arrived early for us at 6SpeedOnline, and just about every gearhead in the land. Just a few days ago we were building the gorgeous, sleek, and seductive Aston Martin Vantage via its online configurator. Now, less than a two weeks later, it’s yet another super machine. This time, though, it’s a bigger and more spacious speed demon — the Lamborghini Urus.

Yup, it finally happened. After teasing us with funky concepts for years, Lamborghini finally pulled the trigger on what they consider their long-term survival strategy. Like most companies big or small, Lamborghini needs a product that targets a large group of people and therefore sells in large quantities. While Lambos will never be mainstream, it’s true that an SUV will appeal to wealthy folks who find an Huracan or Aventador too hardcore.

Urus

The heart of the Urus is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that produces 650 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. And no, that’s not a typo, we really meant to say “V8.” In a world plagued with twin-turbo V6s it’s almost rare to see the magical number eight. In fact, the engine itself is rare, because it’s the first V8 engine that’s rolled out of Sant’Agata in over thirty years!

But enough of the boring stuff. We had a go at the Urus’ online configurator, and while it’s nowhere nearly as friendly and detailed as Aston Martin’s or Porsche’s, it’s still pretty darn cool. Because after all, if it all worked flawlessly it simply wouldn’t be truly Italian. Right?
