Continuing to add to their high-performance vehicles, Porsche debuted a new Boxster Spyder at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. In a nutshell, it is the boiled-down essence of open-air, sportscar driving.

To help illustrate that point, Porsche put out this driving video of the 2016 Boxster Spyder attacking the mountain roads and cruising along the ocean. Unlike some manufacturer’s promotional videos, this Boxster Spyder has no annoying music to cover up the flat-six 3.8L and the exhaust. Turn up your speakers and give it a watch and a listen!

As you can see in the video, it sounds pretty awesome. You can also see how the manual-folding convertible top works. The power unit is ditched in the Spyder for the sake of saving weight.

Also to save weight, the stereo and air conditioning system are optional extras. Finally to help save weight, the only transmission available is a manual gearbox. Enthusiasts rejoice!

If creature comforts are important to you, you can add some of the things that are removed, but there’s still a Boxster GTS that can give you a lot of driving fun with some extra everyday livability.

What do you think of the new Spyder? Would you buy one? Let us know in the forums!
