McLaren Supercars Compared At The Nurburgring! 675LT vs 720S

By -

When you take professionals out of the equation, and just have two enthusiasts test McLaren’s hottest cars, what will be the result?

Perspectives are important. Journalists who’ve been around umpteen amounts of supercars might be a bit biased or jaded to some new offerings. What about the opinions of an enthusiast who has “last years model?” That’s what two speed junkies are out to find out with some tough tests.

Sitting in classic McLaren orange, the 675LT is still no slouch, but the 750S is by far the new king of the hill. Top speed for the 720S is 212 miles per hour, and it’s propelled forward with 710 horsepower. The 4 liter V8 is superior in every measurable way compared to the 675LT’s V8, but there’s more than just engine changes.

One of McLaren’s trick systems has been their hydraulic suspension systen which essentially replaces the sway bars. This setup in the 720S, called Proactive Chassis Control II, might be a bit unnerving for some, especially coming from a traditional car. However, it even provides a noticeable difference even from the 675LT. It very well could be that more seat time is needed to get used to the nuances, but the jury is still out on that.
