Nitto Tire’s Lamborghini Huracan Gets Boosted with Magnusson Supercharger

By -

It’s time to place your bets: how much power is the boosted bull going to make?

We have seen the Nitto Tire Lamborghini Huracan before. It’s an LP580-2 model driven by professional stunt man, and Formula Drift champ, Samuel Hubinette. Of course, being an FD Pro, Hubinetter has had the baby Lambo modified for drifting. Specifically, he added a hydraulic handbrake to lock up the rear wheels on command. Oh, and a gorgeous carbon Vorsteiner fiber-accented body kit to fit massive Nitto rubber. With a mostly stock, naturally-aspirated V10, the Huracan was able to manage some pretty impressive manuevers with Hubinette behind the wheel. But now, Hubinette and the team at Nitto need more from the 580 horsepower V10, a lot more.

Thankfully, the team at VF Engineering have just the solution in the form of their VF 800 package for the Huracan. The kit includes a Magnussion TVS2300 roots-type supercharger, the supporting fueling upgrades and engine management software to take the car from 580 horsepower at the flywheel to 800.

But how accurate is that really? The Hubinettes put their Lambo on the rollers before and after, to see what the real world gains would be. In stock trim their LP580-2 made 492.73 horsepower and 359 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. That’s about a 15% drivetrain loss from the crankshaft to the wheels, which is respectable. After the supercharger was installed, and the ECU tuned for the boost, the car went back on the rollers for round two. The result? 685.76 horsepower and 494 lb-ft of torque to the tires. Good lord. Those are gains of 193 whp and 135 wtq from just the blower. Using that same 15% drivetrain loss figure, that results in about 789 horsepower at the crank. Guess VF Engineering wasn’t foolin’ about that big 800 number.

Hubinette seems thrilled with the change in the car’s personality, too, whipping some street donuts to celebrate. Stay tuned for part two, where we see what the Boosted Bull can really do.
