Porsche 911 Stripped By Thieves

Police found this Porsche 911 sitting on the road, missing pretty much everything – save for some of its bare bodywork and structure.

The Porsche 911 is a quintessential sports car in every sense, and it has remained atop that proverbial heap for decades to this point. A true enduring legend in the automotive world, the Porsche 911 is one of few vehicles that has undergone changes one could describe more as evolutionary than revolutionary, proving that this is a successful formula – given the fact that shoppers are still lining up to pay a premium for one. Unfortunately, that popularity also extends to thieves.

In fact, we tend to see our fair share of stolen Porsche 911 stories out there, some of which are merely taken on joy rides, crashed, and left for police to recover. In other cases, thieves strip these sports cars of their valuable parts and then sell them individually, rather than try to move the entire vehicle – and risk getting caught doing so. That’s precisely what happened to this poor Porsche 911, which was discovered only as a mere shell by the Los Angeles Police Department recently.

LAPD posted some pics of this 911 Cabriolet shell on Facebook, missing pretty much every single component that it left the factory with. Police discovered the body shell sitting on the side of the road recently, sans just about everything that once made it, well, an actual car. That includes the engine, transmission, bumpers, lighting, the entire interior, wheels, tires, and most everything else.

As one might imagine, LAPD is investigating this particular crime against sports cars in general, but they don’t have much to go on at the moment, it seems. It’ll certainly be difficult to track down all of those individual parts, if not impossible – meaning that the folks who committed the crime will likely be free for the time being. With any luck, perhaps law enforcement can get some leads and perhaps even bust what looks to be a group of professionals in this seedy line of work.

In the meantime, the owner of this completely disassembled Porsche 911 is left dealing with an insurance claim, we presume, and also in the market for a suitable replacement – which will hopefully remain in one piece.
