Porsche 992 911 Cruises Around Michigan Uncovered (Video)
Porsche’s latest and greatest 992-generation 911 shows up stateside wearing almost no camouflage!
We’ve seen the all-new Porsche 992 911 testing all over the world lately. From the Nuburgring to the snowy roads of Sweden, Porsche has prototypes seemingly everywhere. And now it appears that they’ve infiltrated the state of Michigan as well, a place currently experiencing some seriously bi-polar spring weather. Which, of course, is the perfect opportunity to see just how Porsche’s latest and greatest handles less than ideal conditions.
The completely undisguised, all-black Porsche 992 911 was spied riding the pothole-ridden roads near Detroit by Jeff Hammound, who posted the short video on his Instagram. Hammound just so happens to be a car designer himself, formerly with Fiat Chrysler and currently with Rivian Automotive. So obviously, he wasn’t fooled when he spotted the shadowy Porsche out on the rainy interstate.
Much like every other Porsche 992 911 prototype we’ve seen to date, this one has some pretty darn attractive curves. Fat, rounded haunches enhance the car’s familiar DNA. The Mission E and Panamera-like brake light bar looks every bit as futuristic. Above it resides the car’s new, more prominent wing. A new version of the brand’s MMB platform rests underneath that sheetmetal. Which, of course, promises to improve high speed stability thanks to a wider track.
It isn’t wholly unsurprising that Porsche isn’t bothering to disguise its prototypes anymore. After all, the car will likely be in dealerships sometime next year. So we’re getting pretty close to an official unveiling, but when that will actually happen is anyone’s guess. In the meantime, we’re sure to see even more mules out on our roads, no matter what the weather might be like.
