Rumors here, get your rumors here! Over the course of the last few months a few rumors have been circulating around the Porsche paddock in Stuttgart. Things such as a car placed under the Boxster and the Cayman, something many of us have been jumping for joy about.

We already know that Porsche has been playing around with some flat four cylinders that have been spied running around the ‘ring in 911 disguise.

But new rumors point that those are just test mules for the engines that will go into the new baby Porsche. Speculators, i.e. the internet, are dubbing this new baby Porsche as the successor to the unsuccessful Porsche 914, that has seen a small renaissance as of late.

Now, over the course of the last week, new rumors have been circulating the storied nameplate. This time though, the rumors are concerning a Ferrari 458 fighter.

Many of you will then just say, well isn’t that the 911? And to that I say, mostly. The 911 in GT2 guise is more of a Ferrari 458 fighter than the standard 911.

This new potential car is being reported as possibly using a detuned flat version of the 8 cylinder that the 918 hybrid hypercar uses, and also without the use of hybrid electrification. This hopefully is true because, that V8 is one of the best sounding engines around at the moment.

Like all rumors, a grain of salt is definitely needed. But I would still file this one as a definite possibility. With VAG fully behind Porsche now, and it looking to expand Porsche’s lineup further, think of the new Macan.

Two additional cars would go a long way in helping to shore up their entire lineup. And for too long have the Porsche purists cried foul on the Nameplate for making things like the Macan, Cayenne, and Panamera. Two strict sports cars would definitely put them back as a sports car maker, instead of a rich person’s grocery getter. Stay tuned.
