For the last few months, Porsche has teased us with spy shots and rumors that the company is planning a GT4 Cayman. We’ve personally seen the spy shots coming out of the Nürburgring and have heard from a couple close contacts that the car is happening and soon. Now according to TopGear, the Cayman GT4 has a few power figures and a potential set of release dates.

First on the power. Likely using either a 3.4L or 3.6L flat six cylinder, Porsche is aiming between 380-400 hp total unlike the previous claims of 450 hp.

Those latter claims would put it just too close to the 911. But figuring 380-400 hp with the low weight of the Cayman, and most likely some weight savings to boot, this car might already be ready to outperform Porsche’s crown jewel.

While it’s still unknown if Porsche will opt for a manual transmission other than just the PDK with the GT4, some rumors are persisting that the new car might indeed have the option to row your own gears.

Additionally, according to TopGear the most likely release date and debut will be around February, which coincides with the Chicago Auto Show.

However, that is unlikely because while the most popular auto show on the calendar, the Chicago Auto Show doesn’t attract big name debuts any longer. We may however be seeing this car debut at the LA Auto Show in a few weeks though.

At the moment Porsche is slated to debut something at the event, but mums been the world out of Stuttgart. We will hopefully know more soon, in the meantime, do you like the idea of a Cayman GT4? Will it encroach on the 911’s territory too much? Shout out in the comments.
