We know how it is around the office. You need good bolstering on your office chair to handle the G-loading of spinning around on a boring Tuesday. You also need something that says to visiting clients “Did you see that Carrera GTS in the parking lot? Yeah, that’s mine.” And of course, Porsche has the answer with the “Office Chair RS.” No, this isn’t a typically odd attempt at German humor. Yes, you can really own this.

The office chair is the same seat offered in the 991 Carrera GTS and GT3. That explains the cost, at least in part. It’s not like they just reupholstered an OfficeMax chair. Although they may very well have dropped the 911 seat onto the frame of one. Either way, a Porsche seat costs what it costs. If you’re the type of executive who wants to sit all day in the same seat from your commute, then this is the thing for you.

We have to say, it’s very unlike Porsche to offer anything like this without 300 add-on options. We feel weird looking at the catalog item in the Porsche Masterpiece and not having the ability to option it out to three times the base model’s MSRP. I suppose the Saturn model of car sales doesn’t work everywhere. Or anywhere, really.

The Office Chair RS is part of Porsche’s extensive lifestyle collection, which has become a staple of most high-end sports car offerings. You can also buy an $85 toy Porsche hauler, a $6,400 carbon-fiber bicycle, or a $3,500 sound system made from a 911 muffler.
