A Team Fight to the Line!

Which left Giordano in pursuit of Bishop and Jurie making up that lost time. “I bided my time and only used three of my five push to passes early on, to keep close to Tate,” Giordano explained. “With three laps to run, I made my move and popped out of his slip. “Alas, that proved to be precisely the wrong moment! “The safety car came out to remove a car stuck in a sand trap. “So, not only did that cost me a push to pass and likely a fastest lap for third race pole position. “And we had only a lap left to race after it went green. “And Jurie managed to get past me in the run to the line! “But I’m delighted with my first Polo podium, I hope of many more!”

Jurie’s disappointment was short lived. Bishop was slapped with a one place penalty to hand Swart the win. “That was the perfect start to the season,” Jurie admitted. “It’s a win and I’ll take it any way we get it.” That also put Jurie on pole for race 2, and he dominated en route to a back-to-back victory. Giordano struggled off the line and had to fight back from sixth. He made his way back to third but ended wide after attacking for second and dropped to sixth despite a brave run around the outside for most of the final tour. “That’s racing! “I got the fastest lap and a bonus point though, so all good!”

Bishop was on pole for the final and delivered a faultless drive off a lightning start to score his maiden win. Jurie and Giordano were flat in out pursuit. “Conditions were just too hot, and it became a bit of a procession. “But Lupini made me work so hard, I had to defend like never before!” Jurie explained. “Well done to Gio on another fastest lap and to Tate for his first win. “I’m absolutely delighted to start my season with a double win and overall honors.”

New Team Bullion IT Racing Gelled Perfectly

“My team gave me a perfect car, so huge thanks to Gozzi, my dad and Kyle and to Bullion IT Racing for everything. “We will take that overall win for the day and a strong championship lead too. “I am also proud of my teammate Gio. “He had incredible pace today. “And to have made it a Cape Town home 1-2-3-4 with Tate and Charl. “Cape Town rocks! “Now it’s on to Zwartkops in Pretoria next month – I really can’t wait!”

“I have to say I am happy with my performance today,” Giordano admitted. “I was a little unlucky with the timing of a safety car late in race 2, and we have a few small points to address. “But that really was a great first weekend overall. “Most importantly, I made a massive leap forward to find myself amongst the frontrunners all weekend. “And my pace was good enough to claim three of the four bonus points up for grabs. “The potential is there — now we just need to tie it all together.

“It also a great privilege to race for Bullion IT Racing alongside my teammate Jurie Swart, who delivered a great double win to take the weekend overall on our maiden outing. “Jurie also took the other quickest lap, so that’s a clean sweep of fastest official sessions for the team. “On top of Jurie’s championship lead, with me third. “So, almost a perfect start! “Our little team has gelled brilliantly, so a huge thank you to Bullion IT for making all this possible and to Nian, my dad, Hein and the team.”

Polo Cup

Moving Forward on Top of the Log

“Hats off to our two young lions and our entire team, but Bullion IT Racing made a spectacular, dominant and winning Polo Cup debut at Killarney this weekend,” cash solutions management experts Bullion IT CEO Clive Strover concluded. “Jurie was dominant in the blue car and Giordano showed incredible pace in our red Bullion IT Polo. “So, we leave Cape Town with Jurie leading and both cars in the provisional championship top three. “That’s the way we do it guys!”
