Should You Sell Your McLaren F1 on Craigslist?

When you go to Craigslist to find a car, you expect to find hilarious ads for “a totally working non functional Chevy Aspire” that “runs like new and is daily driven 10,000 miles each day without a hiccup.”

In other words, the seller’s attempting to bullsh*t their way through you buying their old beaten down hooptie that will assuredly explode after you drive it a full two feet.

What you don’t expect to see is a multi-million dollar supercar on it, but for some reason a McLaren F1 for a time was being sold on the site.

Now “fishy” isn’t really the right word I’d use to describe this listing. Rather the more colloquial “hella bullsh#t” is probably more apt in this instance. Especially when you consider the seller is asking for almost $8 million for the car.

While all the facts and specs remain plausible, particularly after Googling McLaren F1 specs. The fact that a multi-million dollar car is being sold on Craigslist where almost no one has over $500, and one of the pictures is actually a picture of Ralph Lauren’s McLaren F1 led me to believe that something wasn’t  right with this.  And it appears that neither does Craigslist since the company already pulled down the ad.

If you can’t trust a Craigslist seller, who can you trust these days?

You can trust two girls and one McLaren, anyday. – Ed.
