SEMA 2017: Royal Purple Hosts GAP Racing Camaro Unveiling

Royal Purple debuted a custom 1967 Camaro built by GAP Racing alongside new viscosities of XPR engine oil at the 2017 SEMA show.

Following up on last year’s 1969 Camaro show car, Royal Purple started the 2017 SEMA Show with an exciting unveiling of a 1967 Camaro built by GAP Racing of Houston, Texas.

Tim Palazzolo of GAP Racing adapted parts from several generations of the Camaro to create a unique homage to the original ’67 version that owner and project-commissioner David Snell fell in love with many years ago.

And having only seen the GAP Racing Camaro in its early stages of creation, Snell was just as excited as the crowd of onlookers in Royal Purple’s booth to see the final result.

This convertible is a blend of old and new, taking inspiration from the modern-day Camaro ZL1, and features a Chevrolet Performance LT4 engine, custom Baer brakes, and HRE wheels.

GAP Racing also included an Easter egg on the front grille — a custom badge that reads “67ZL1.”

And we’re pretty certain that this high-performance Camaro has Royal Purple’s XPR Extreme Performance synthetic oil running through its veins — the XPR synthetic oil lineup now features two new viscosities: 5W-40 and 5W-50.

Congratulations to GAP Racing on making someone’s dream come true — they faced many challenges, including parts shipping delays caused by Hurricane Harvey, but the talented group of builders emerged victorious with a sleek and tasteful show car.
