Singer now offers their legendary restoration service in turbocharged format with power output starting at 450 horsepower.

There’s certainly no shortage of love for the cars that Singer Vehicle Design produces. Starting with the already iconic 964 Porsche 911, Singer completely transforms each and every car to client specifications with bespoke engineering and modern amenities. With lightweight carbon fiber body components, completely overhauled interiors, and remarkable 3.8 or 4.0-liter flat-six engines that rev to the moon, these absolutely stunning modern re-imaginations of a classic 911 can blast from zero to 60 miles per hour in as little as 3.3-seconds. Indeed, these cars are no joke. However, they just took another step up with the addition of turbocharging.

Singer recently put out a press release stating that they had concluded a Turbo Study wherein they completed the construction of their first turbocharged model. They say that over 70 customers have already reserved turbocharged models. Let’s take a look at what this addition brings to the table.

Complete Re-Imagination from Tip to Whale Tail

According to Singer, turbo models have a starting power output of 450 with options to go higher should customers desire. Furthermore, turbo models are available in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive format. As with any Singer build, the entirety of the vehicle is a collaborative effort between the company and the customer, ensuring that every specific detail needed by a buyer is met. Options like ceramic brakes, sportier suspension, and a host of other options are available on request. Roll cages, hoops, strut bracing, and a host of additional safety and handling upgrades are also available.

It isn’t just the engine that gets an upgrade, though. As with other Singer models, many original body components are replaced with carbon fiber. Additionally, turbo models see a modern re-imagination of the iconic whale tail spoiler. The result is absolutely stunning to look at.

Of course, other modern amenities like air conditioning are available. Furthermore, as with all Singer models, the interior gets a complete modern overhaul with the finest materials. This includes gorgeous leather throughout and tasteful integrations of wood and carbon fiber.

A Perfect Balance of Modern and Classic

Overall, the addition of turbocharged models to the Singer lineup is both welcome and unsurprising. It only makes sense that the cream of the crop in bespoke Porsche engineering offers the cream of the crop in Porsche power output. In fact, Rob Dickinson, founder and executive chairman of Singer, has some history with turbo Porsche models.

“My first ever ride in a Porsche 911 as an 11-year-old in 1976 left me dry-mouthed and speechless – it was a black 930 Turbo with red tartan seats. Forty-five years on from that life-changing moment, I’m excited to present the results of our study that aims to capture the awesome thrill of Porsche’s first ‘supercar’ while reimagining its performance and refinement and collaborating with owners to take both to new heights. I believe it’s a fitting tribute to a car that changed my life and many others,” said Dickinson.

Those interested in seeing the Turbo Study singer in person can catch it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2022. Furthermore, US residents will have a chance to see the car at Monterey Car Week in August 2022.
