This 997 Turbo S smashed the 10-second barrier, running a 9.89 in the ¼ mile.

Nobody would call the Porsche 911 Turbo S slow, but that doesn’t mean there is no room for improvement. 6SpeedOnline member Erikchich knows what we mean, and he decided to show off his tuned and modified 997.2 Turbo S. His silver 911 has been fitted with a Aquamist HFS-4 meth injection system, new AMS intercoolers with Y-pipe, Turbosmart diverter valves, an IPD intake plenum, and a full 3” cat-less exhaust from Speedtech. He also had the car tuned for the upgrades. After that, he then jammed some sticky Toyo R888 tires into the wheels wells for all that delicious grip.

To test out just how quick his car really is, Erikchich snagged a spot in a local track rental day at Atco Raceway in New Jersey. It took a whole day of trying, modifying tire pressures, adjusting his launch, but every run ended up in the 10s with a trap speed of around 140. But then, right before the end of the day, it all came together. At the end of the ¼-mile, the clock stood at 9.898 with a trap speed of 141.50.

It’s not deep into the nines, but it is still a nine-second run. The 1/8-mile time is just as impressive, pulling in a 6.4 at 111 mph. Of course, when you break the 10-second barrier, the track gets upset and says you are done running for the day. So as big of an achievement as it may have been, that run was the end of the day for Erikchich. Thankfully there were less than ten minutes left on the clock for the track rental, so the timing couldn’t have been better.
