HI All --
I'm stuck trying to install my new Bilstein B6 / H&R lowering spring suspension. I don't know how to compress the strut to attach the bottom bolt. I tried jacking up the strut but that resulted in the strut getting caught on the control arm. I reviewed the factory procedure ( 427117 ) but it does not address this issue. Please refer to the attached photo to see my issue exactly. Again, I tried to jack up the strut but it gets trapped in the control arm guide given the strut is larger in diameter than the mounting plates on the control arm .
Hopefully someone who has encountered this issue can comment --- TIA !
I need to compress the strut enough to put in the mounting bolt. FWIW -- the lowering springs are not engaged so no spring compression is necessary. These are Bilstein sport shock and are very tough to compress.

I don't know if I know the correct way but when I put Bilstein 5100s on my Tundra, I encountered the same issue. The only way I could get them in was to push the A-arm down with a hydraulic spreader. Maybe ask Bilstein if there is a trick/better way to it.
