UPDATE: Suspension Parts Have Been Installed!

I can't believe I was driving with my suspension "ratted out" like it was...let alone on the track at our DE last Novemer....the driver's side rear was all out of whack!...I'm getting an alignment and corner balance next Tuesday...it will be nice to have it setup properly and take it to our DE next month!

Excellent set up! Have you thought about changing the calipers for extra braking?

Thanks Garnet....I love the new firmer setup....had the alignment setup a little more aggresive than stock but not full track setup and it really sticks!

Will do the brakes eventually, but they work fine at the track right now....

What size torsion bars are you running?

My 911 has been setup for track and I can almost say I have the full Elephant Racing suspension catalog on my car. The only part I haven't touched are the sway bars since I don't think I'm getting all I can out of my setup as is.

It is amazing what you feel when you refresh the suspension. I know when I bit the bullet and did the suspension refresh, it was night and day.

Good luck at the track.. and just know you'll be eying new brakes soon enough..

Thanks Chkbook...can't wait to get it on the track next month...I'm running Elephant Racing hollow torsion bars 22mm & 29mm front & rear respectively...Polybronze bearings front and rear....Low friction control arm mounts...Tarett Engineering hollow sway bars front and rear...bump steer kit....turbo tie rods....Bilstein sport shocks...more aggressive than stock but not full track alignment setup and corner balance...

I'm already eyeing a set of 993 brakes...

I'm running 23 / 31 on the torsion bars and need to get my shocks revalved, but I don't want to mess with that until I do sway bars.

I've got the 996TT brakes on my car which could be a little overkill for most tracks but the ones closest to me require a lot of repeated braking and I already had my stock brakes go out on me. I figure the more iron to sink the heat into the bettter, now I just need to decide which pads to go with since the OEM pads don't cut it for track duty.

Damn 996TT brakes?...must stop on a dime...my friend Jeremy has 993 brakes on his '87 Cab which weighs in the neighborhood of 2850lbs, I sat shotgun with him during his "hot" laps instructor stint at our last Sebring DE and his 993 brakes are phenomenal! I can't imagine what 996TT brakes are like on a lighter Carrera...

I went with 22mm & 29mm TBs since I drive the 911 on the street a lot more than the track...the ride is a lot firmer than the stock setup, but still very manageable on the street...it's a great setup for me...

The brakes are great, but I probably could have gotten away with 993 brakes, but given the chance to overbuild and make completely sure it will withstand abuse I'll pick overbuild..

So much of the fun in upgrading the suspension is deciding what is the best setup for you. Have fun at the track, the older cars are a blast to drive quickly... not to mention pretty close to rock solid reliability.
