Kind of a Barn Find 1980 911 SC

I have this sitting in the garage at my work and I'm contemplating taking it off their hands and restoring it?

Need an opinion on the value in current condition?

Rats in interior, possibly chewed up wiring.

Engine will fire up, but it's missing horribly.

Put rebuilt calipers on it a year or so ago.

Interior is ripped, paint is scuffed in places but it all seems to be there.

the SC cars are bullitt proof, however, from the look of that car you would drop alot of money in it to make it right, you can buy a very nice SC from $17k to $25k

all depends on what you want to do with it and how hands on you are. Paint will cost anywhere from $3k to $10k depending in quality. Interior, same as paint.

Oh wow, yah It would be a budget restore.

Paint for $1000 or under. Interior the same.

Would have engine rebuilt to keep numbers matching.

Get it running and driving, then slowly tinker with it.

I don't know, anyone else be interested themselves?

I think I will heed that advice and back away.

I just hate seeing things go to waste like that.

It's why I rescued my 996.

If it's in solid mechanical shape, and since it seems like you work at a mechanic shop, I could be wrong, you can't go wrong for $4K. Paint on these cars are amazing. If there's no rust issue, a good polishing and waxing will do it some good. Forget about restoring the leather seats...keep em as is and clean them up. Interior fabrics can be purchased cheap on pelican parts, or other porsche sites. These cars deserve to be brought back to life. IMHO, as long as the foundation is good, chassis, engine, trans, electrical, etc., all it takes is some TLC and she'll reward you with miles and miles of smiles.

It is tough to see cars like this and the temptation to get in a restore is so strong. Just looking at the pics I want to save it! Everyone brings cars back to life in varying degrees but almost all who attempt it seem to enjoy the end result.

How much work did you do to the 996?

So he gave me a 100% price of $4500.

Because I'm closing on a house in a week, I'm not going to move forward with this myself.

If you're interested in purchasing, pm me and I'll get you in touch with the owner (my boss).
