1972 911 with 34k km, what is it worth?
Hi all. I had a 997.1 and a 997.2 in the past and was looking to get into another 911 and stumbled upon this find. Just wondering if anyone could give a rough value for the car. It is a two owner low 34k km vehicle with no rust. It had a respray to the factory color around 20 years ago. With vintage cars like this, it is hard to know the value. Any thoughts?

Hi,
Nice find. Value on the air-cooled are quite varied and very subjective to the "look" or originality. I think since this is a very low mileage example it will command a decent premium. Hagerty is a safe start. Price will vary greatly depending on if its a "S" "E" or "T". I have two air-cooled 911 currently so I do pay attention to the market every now and then. Since this is a "E" then you're probably $70-$90k. I think based on the condition and pics. I see mainly all original or restored cars command a premium. Targas I personally feel sell for less then coupes.

The engine is an E engine. I researched the serial number and there were a little over 850 produced for this model. I plan to buy it in the spring and change the rear aftermarket spoiler to a duck tail. The engine has upgrades done by the original owner who tracked the car in Arizona but am not exactly sure yet what was done. I am hoping to buy and keep the car long term, driving it sparingly on weekends. Always wanted a classic 911 and am so happy to find this one. I also have a 2000 M Coupe, which I love. So analog and pure...

Yeah you can't go wrong with this car if you get it at the right price. The duck tail will definitely give it the right period look. I'm actually building a RSR long nose tribute car too from my 83 sc. Done right the air-cooled cars will always be a solid investment. You're right, the mechanical feel of the air-cooled cars are much more exhilarating then the modern Porsches. I guess thats why I'm selling my 996tt and building my '83 lol. Good luck with it
