Quick question, can you remove the oil tank without removing the rear tire, I have a 1979sc.
Thanks
On the 1979 SC (presumably a Porsche 911 or classic motorcycle), it is usually possible to remove the oil tank without taking off the rear tire, but there may be limited clearance and access which can make the job tricky. Most guides suggest you only need to disconnect hoses, mounting bolts, and sometimes inner wheel well attachments; removing the tire is generally not required unless space is extremely tight or the tank is unusually stuck. If you’re working in a garage with the car lifted high enough, sliding the tank out should be doable as long as you have access to the mounting points and hoses.
Has anyone here done it both ways, and do you recommend pulling the tire for more room, or is it just added hassle? Any particular tools or angle tricks that make it easier?
