Oil Extractors

Does anyone know if one of those vacuum pump 'oil extractor' tools can be used to 'suck' out oil in a Porsche w/o a dipstick. My question is will the hose fit down the oil fill tube and reach any oil to remove an over fill condition. Seems like an easier & 'cleaner' way to either do an oil change or remove excess oil.

Check out this Amazon.com link for the various types.

Any thoughts or personal experience using one of these gadgets?

The thing that worries me about oil extractors is that while they get out the majority of the oil, they fail to get the residue at the bottom of the pan. It may work for every other oil change but I do recommend doing it the standard way by removing the drain on the pan to get out all of the sludge.

I think he's just looking for something to remove an overfill condition, not a complete evacuation.

That's it exactly.

Will those devices work on a 997 w/ no dip stick tube? Can the extraction tube be snaked far enough down the oil fill inlet to remove let's say a quart of oil.

You don't need to "snake" it down the tube into the oil pan, it will pull it out by suction...

I think it could work. I have an oil extractor and i believe that the silicone hose will reach down the tube into the pan. The oil filler tube is not that long (I know because I just had to replace mine in doing the X51 intake). I think it would be worth a try. If you don't mind driving 45 min. north you can borrow my extractor.

You are right about that, I thought he needed it for a complete oil change. These will work for this particular issue to take out enough oil if you overfilled.

Just bought one from Amazon.Com. Price was right and it'll come in handy for a number of applications.

Here's the link in case anyone is interested: http://www.amazon.com/Mityvac-7400-L...7409070&sr=1-1

I tried it and couldn't get the hose down far enough to even touch the oil. Ended up removing the drain plug to remove some of the dealer overfill

Hopefully you'll have better luck.
