Long story but I bought back my first 911 who my father bought new, gave to me and I traded it on a 1994 Speedster back in 1998. The dealership had the car for about 8 months before they could resell it. I always regretted trading it almost immediately and about a year later saw the car at an event in Parts Haven. Waited around the car until the owner showed up and told him I had the original records, bills of sale, window sticker and COA. We traded contact information and every year for the next 21 years I emailed him to see how the car was doing and if he wanted to resell the car, out of the blue in late January 2020, he offered it up for sale and told me I wanted it it, it was mine. I bought it and within three days it went for Gilroy CA to Scottsdale and was back in my garage. Over the last few years, I have driven it and started restoring it. Well, it came to having the rims restored and I removed the rims and found that in the few months the dealer had the car he replaced the tires. I guess they lost or did not find the key for the locking lug nut and drilled out the lug nut. They did not tell the new owner and it was hidden by the lug nut.
Now I was stuck with finding a new 16x8 rear rim or replacing all four rims. With the cost of shipping and restoring the rims I decided to use aftermarket rims to get more of an original look of when the car was delivered.
Like the more original look and saved thousands, now on to a new sound system.
