My first 911 Carrera
It used to mean something, but Porsche has really over used the name. It should have stayed with the 3.0 Carrera of the 70's.
I like the new ride. In my opinion if you have a nice clean stock older Porsche it is coolest to leave it that way and show how well these cars age. If I were going to get one to mod heavily I would get something that has already been modded some and has lost the stock look, that way I wouldn't feel so bad.
I had a 86 Cab and put BBS LM's on which where 17" and I thought it made the car look more modern. I have never been a fan of Fuch's but to each their own opinnion. I had B&B exhaust with headers and man would that car go.

Moeby, Carrera was the name given to the 911s after the SCs (some have called Super Carrera). All 911s produced between '84 and '89 were called Carrera. Of course, except for the 930s (911 Turbo).
There were 911 Carreras in the '70s, as flatsixnut mentioned above) but I don't know the differences between the Carrera and regular 911s (other than the Carrera having a 3.0L and the regular 911s having a 2.7L).
I could most certainly be wrong, as I'm not an expert on 356s, but I think the very early (356) Carreras meant they were 4 cam engines.

Mike
