New Here
Well it fitted (kinda...)
Just to advise, the kenwood DNX5220BT did fit the centre console in 'Lady P', (its a colour thing!) after a bit of work with a saw the single DIN became a double DIN, and I lose the clock and coin cubbie (no loss) only problem i seem to have is, could not get the unit to switch on via the 'correct' wiring, so it stays powered regardless of the ignition switch position???, just have to remember to turn it off from the front panel before leaving the car! the large touch LCD sucks a lot of juice from the battery!
on the 968, the green wire in the OEM harness is the ignition switched wire - you probably connected it to the red one, which is always hot
typically you connect the yellow wire from they deck to the red wire from the car to retain memory, and then the red wire from the deck to the green wire from the car so the unit shuts off when you turn off the key
brown is ground
small red/black connects to a black one in the OEM harness and is to the antenna amp - connect this to the blue trigger wire from the deck so that the antenna amp gets power when you turn on the deck - some newer decks even have 2 trigger wires - one for the antenna, and one for accessories
always good to use a meter, and to double and triple check with the deck's instructions
hope that helps

Thanks for that Flash, yes that's exactly how i wired it all up in the first instance, and the little tell-tale light started to flash on the unit as it was supposed to, it would even take in and eject cd/DVD discs!, but it refused point blank to switch on when the ign/acces key was in and the car was running?, that is what was doing my head in! lol, and after double checking with the 968 service book, and wiring diagram I was not getting any further.
What did it for me was the suggestion in the installation book for the Kenwood was the option of non operation via the ignition switch for 'VW' based wiring, and the suggestion of running the unit directly from the 'hot' line in the dash.. So this is how it finaly came to life, now I know my 924 Lux is pretty much VW based, but the 968?
Again thanks for the assistance

hmmm - well, i'm not sure what the deal is there - i would check the green wire to see that it actually got hot with the switch - it sounds like it didn't - i am installing a system in a 968 right now, and it definitely does on my car
i just went through this - i wanted nav in the car - but, i didn't want to give up the ability to listen to a cd WHILE using active nav - none of the units that fit would do that - the only ones that would do both at the same time smacked the shifter when the face flipped down
i ended up with a single din unit with nav - JVC KD-NXD505 - i'll be installing it next week, along with a rockford fosgate 3sixty2, and the bluetooth module and ipod module
