Agate Grey or Gabun Grey

Hello everyone, I usually post in the 991 forum, but I just purchased by wife a 1982 Porsche 928. We are trying to figure out the color. Did they use Agate grey or Gabun grey in 1982?

I think they only offered the Pewter Metallic or Meteor Grey Metallic in 82'. I hope this helps, would love to see a few pictures of this beauty when you get a chance

We have not looked for long. She has been driving
928's since she was a teenager. Her last one
Was black on black manual and she felt she needed
To give it up when the clutch went out.

Now, we have a big anniversary and she has
A big birthday coming up, and instead of
More jewelry, I had the chance to make
A correction for her.

I found a hopefully good example in Kansas. I live in LA
So I couldn't drive it but my fingers are crossed.

Well the 928 has been delivered and not in bad shape. However, its first stop after a short drive was to the mechanic for a fuel leak when the tank was filled (not to big of a deal), and some engine work including new air intakes (they were original) and new fluids, and possible belt changes. Also, there was a strong clutch smell. Owning a classic Jaguar, all part of the game.

Here are some pictures, the exterior has just two dents that will come out (no paint damage), and the interior was in surprisingly good condition. Love to hear what you shark lovers think.

ps. Still a little more detailing to do when it comes back from the mechanics.

That's great to hear

It looks like it was very well kept and maintained. I didn't know they offered the Schwartz Metallic in 82', I guess you learn something new everyday.

I did some asking around and it looks like it was offered from 79'-'82, and from 91'-'95.

Schwartz is a fancy word for black which 928s had every year. If the car is gray in color, it is probably a repaint.
The fuel smell after filling would be the gasket on the top of the fuel level sender in the rear trunk under the deck mat. It is a $3 gasket and should be no more than 30 minutes of labor.

The fuel smell was the gasket and some hoses that had rotted away. We also had to replace the clutch. We should get it back this week so my wife can enjoy it. It is all she thinks about.
