88 930s

I am looking at a 1988 930S where the speedo has been replaced. The replacement was done at an authorized Porsche dealer and the proper steps were taken to disclose this information. The owner explained it up front and the inside of the owners manual was noted with the mileage at the time of replacement and it was stamped by the dealer who did the work. I have two questions. First did the 1987-1989 930s have problems with the speedos that lead Porsche to have a section in the owners manual showing that it was replaced? Secondly, does this hurt the value of the car in anyway here or in the future?

All information will be appreciated!

I bought an 87 cabriolet new and the speedo failed at about 4,700 miles. Same story, the owners manual was annotated by the dealer just like the one you are looking at. As far as the impact on market value, I am not sure if there is any so long as the dealer stamp is on it. Your best buying tool is a good pre purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic.
