Blew two rockers on my 930

Hi All,

Two weeks ago I did a run with the er group and at about 100 miles into the run i heard a loud ticking noise from my motor. I thought i needed a valve adjustment. I brought it to my mechanic and he gave me the bad news. Appartly the ports that shoot oil into the rockers were clogged and two of my rockers blew out. This is the same mechanic who rebuild my motor, tranny, and turbo last year. He said their must of been some contaiments in your oil. I change the oil myself every 3,000 miles. Today i get the car back and its still ticking I asked my mechanic what is that tick he said i needs to break in then the ticking will stop. I'm lost has anyone else had this problem.

Not sure what "blew a rocker" means but when I had a chain tensioner give up the ghost it took out that side of the motor kissing the pistons on the way out. It wasn't a 930 motor, (pre-hydraulic tensioners), but the pain is just about the same.

There should be no ticking. Are the valves adjusted properly? Go to another mechanic!

^2nd that. those motors don't tick unless something isn't set right. is it a injector type tick up top or a tick from below the motor?

Had a similar issue with 930 a few years ago. The cam towers take a beating where the cam rides when there is an oil starvation issue, and very well may need to be replaced on that side.
