Found a high mileage 87 930, worth it?
I bought my 87 w/47xxx miles borla exhaust, Powerhaus headers, K-27,Garretson intercooler 1 bar spring and a g-50 5 speed conversion paid a little over $32,xxx so they are out there you just have to be patient. It took me ten years to pull the trigger don`t jump on it because of the price, get the car you want and maybe the upgrades you want also. Good luck with what ever you decide.....
I've been in the market for a 930 turbo for quite some time now so I am familiar with the market trends and the prices going DOWN...not up. Anyone who tells you they are appreciating isjust trying to justify their own expenditures or are trying to sell one themselves. I agree with some of the posters here who have stated you can get one with not too high miles in the mid to low $30-35k range. Check autotrader, Craiglook, ebay....they are all over the place. You can find on ein very nice cosmetic condition and good mechanical condition with 70k miles or less for $32k. I would not pay much more than that as you will get stuck with a ton of repair bills. that will likely approach your purchase price. Pay more up front for a better overall car. Don't fall for the "these cars are better with higher miles on them" line... In fact thats a great way to find out if the guy selling you the car is a crook....
How about this one?
Just a thought. May be worth checking out even though I realize you are in Florida. This one has been completely gone through and I am flexible on price.

I would not trust anything a salesman says. Take it to a non-dealer mechanic who is well known and trusted and ask him to go thru the car and give you his opinion of the value. At 114K miles you are probably going to need a lot of work to get it where you think it should be. Engine, paint, seats, etc. Less if you do all the work youself. If not, 20K is a low number. Been there done that. It is way cheaper in the long run (time and money) to buy one already done and pay more than do it yourself. I see someone offered you one above. Even if you do not like black, that is the way to go - ALREADY DONE!

I agree with the poster above. The mileage isn't really an issue if the car has been serviced and gone through, but it could be a real headache trying to bring a sub-par car up to snuff just to save money. My dad took 2 years to pull the trigger on his P-Car and ended up with a 930 of similar mileage and modification level as the black car posted. He's had 0 issues, loves the car to death and is glad he didn't skimp out and purchase one of the less sorted cars he considered before the 930.
A lot depends on what all has been done to the car over the years. It could range from a higher- mileage runout drivetrain to a totally rebuilt, updated car. I would want to see all the service records before I invested the time and $ in a PPI. It seems to me that most of the older 930's with this kind of mileage have had engines/trans overhauls at some point.
Well I ended up buying a NA 911 instead. I'm currently redoing it, I'll post up a thread in the 911 section in the next few days. Thanks for all the info guys. I appreciate it.
