BTW, if i'm not mistaken this is about avg selling price for a 959.

You guys realize that the majority of old cars you see at shows and concours events, etc are all repaints right?

The link above says nothing about a "restoration". Where did you get that ?? With a car like that - if your are going to repaint it, it needs to be kept the same color to preserve the integrety of such a classic. If you want to change it, then it needs a complete frame off rotisserie restoration. A car like the 959 deserves nothing less.

That car has been sitting in the Keuylian showroom for ages. At $250K you can pick it up, give it a very nice repaint back to the original color (it'll look better than the day it rolled out of the factory) for $8-10K. Mileage is fairly high, but provided it's mechanically sound, it's a bargain in any color.

A repaint is a repaint. You can only worry so much about keeping a car "original" until you no longer like it. Your car, you do what you do. The repaint didn't effect the price of this car. (you'd be amazed how many perfect classics you'll see at shows that are different colors then original).

As mentioned, this cars price is on par with what these cars are selling for (most aren't selling period)

Isn't "cheap 959" an oxymoron?

Most of the federalized cars are not selling because they lose 125-175hp on average. Come on the car did 0-60 in 3.6sec back in '86. They flat hall *** and have saved the 911 for the rest of the world all hale the 959.

This is completely untrue, please post your source. If you go through Bruce Canepa, the cars undergo extensive engine modifications that actually increase hp and pass current CA emissions.

I beleive Canepa's 959 federalization entails removing the 2.8 liter motor and replacing it with a 993TT motor. Probably makes sense from a daily drivability/reliability standpoint- put that to me seems like ripping the soul out of the 959.

Huh? Where did you hear this? This is completely untrue.

It amazes me that some people actually believe this stuff. As if people would be lining up (14 deep before he even got the federalization licenses) to buy a hack-job 993TT powered 959.

Said Most and yes all the cars that go thru Bruce get extensive modifacations to the Motronics system to pull out 579hp at the least to 620hp depending how far you want to take it. 0-60 time drop to 3.2 with 579 hp. Bruce is selling the one he has for $575k the market is alive and well. There is one for sale in Orange County for $650K that has been done by Bruce. Garrett has new turbos good for about 750hp. Just gotta take take care of those pesky clutch's.

COLE

P.S. If you call Porsche about your 959 in the US you are told to call Bruce.
