Unfortunately without spending a boat load of cash, there really aren't any options. Even with a lot of money, you will be putting out less than a standard stock turbo. My advice is to upgrade the suspension and enjoy the car in the twisties, or sell it and buy a turbo. Buying a 951 will by FAR be the cheapest option.

+1^ a stock 951 will be faster than you will ever be able to make an NA 944...

there is a place, www.lindseyracing.com that sells tons of stuff for all 944's. But +1 to the rest of the guys, the cost to performance is not the greatest. It all just depends how much you wanna spend and what you expect out of it!

I don't really see the point is bumping up a 3 month old thread just to dump on the original poster for owning the wrong car. Remember, the 951 has taller gears than the 944NA, so while the 944 may never be faster, with a cat bypass, 951 exhaust, bored throttle body, and extra fuel pressure, it may be just as quick.

No. It won't.

Especially after you spend the same money on the 951 for mods. The cost per hp just is exponentially different.

The only way I know is to buy a 1989 2.7 motor, put a 3.0 crank in it, add 3" exhaust, chip, and headers. The proper engine build will set you back about $12k. And then you will only be 50% slower than a Turbo!!!

The only thing wrong with a 944 is that they made the 951.

If there was no 951 there probably would be all sorts of power mods for the 944. The $ per HP gained just is not there before the purchase of a 951 makes more sense.

Yup, the LS1 swap is the way to go, even if you have a turbo, lol. The problem is the cost of the conversion. Most people just won't justify dumping $15k into a $3-5k car.
