964 Turbo???

I saw a green one which was a 964 turbo. How rare is this car. Where is the best place to find 964 cars and 964 turbo cars for sale. Looking for a black one, green one, and this weird blueish color. Looking for irregular colors. This would be more of a weekend fun car. Any help would be greatly appreciated to find one of these cars.

There's no central place to find a 964 Turbo (also known as type 965). Try the For Sale sites for 6Speedonline, Rennlist, Pelican Parts, Autotrader, Craigslist, TruSpeed Motorcars, and there are other Porsche dealer specialists. Many advertise on Autotrader.

I'm no expert on the Turbos, but in my shopping for my 964, I've only seen ONE Signal Green Turbo (the one listed on Rennlist). Supposedly, this is only one of 2 made or maybe sold in the US, not sure. You should talk to the owner. He would probably know. Regardless, it is a rare color.

Other unique colors I've seen are Amethyst Metallic (it's a purple and there is one available at Park Place in Redmond WA), Cobalt (medium metallic blue), Midnight Blue, Ocean Blue, Speed Yellow, turqouis (do a search for Seinfeld's 993 Turbo S), a metallic red, Amazon Green, and a light baby blue that looks pretty cool. Not sure if all of these colors are available on the 964 turbo.

If you can spring it, I'd say go for the Signal Green Turbo (no affiliation to the owner. I just love that color). Very unique and rare. Good luck with your search.

Thanks, I saw the green one. It was beautiful car. I would like to find a higher mileage baby blue 964/5 turbo or non-turbo. Something I can have fun with. I do not need low mileage as i will be enjoying driving the car rather the being concerned with mileage. If anyone has any leads for a baby blue one that would be great.

How bright was the green? Here is a 964 3.6 Turbo that I saw on Rennlist and previously on RPMSPORTSCARS for sale.

This guy was thinking about selling it like last month!

Mikes signal green 94 turbo is for sale but I think you are looking at mid to high $80K's for it. It is the only signal green 964 turbo I have heard of in the US although there may be others. This is also a 94 with the 3.6 liter motor vs the 91-92's that had the 3.3l motor. Both are very nice cars but the 3.6 has the distinction of being the last of the rear wheel drive single turbos made with only 410 imported as US models. There is no knowing exactly how many 94's made it to the US for sale. Some US spec cars supposedly were sold in Canada and some sent to Mexico and other parts of the America's although there is no way to verify if and how many. Out of the 410 all the IMSA race cars were also produced so depending on how many were used for the race series would lower the number also.

Porsche offered several greens for the 964 turbos. Including:
Oak Green Metallic Clear 22L I have seen only one 94 and a few 91-92's
Mint Green Metallic Clear 224 Never seen one
Signal Green 22S only have seen Mikes car
Lagoon Green Metallic Clear 35Y again never seen one
Amazon Green Metallic clear 39A (great color) I have seen about 4 94's and many more 3.3l in this color, looks more blue than green

Cobalt is another rare color. Mine is the only 94 with black interior and there are 2 others both with gray interiors I have never seen a US 91-92 in this color although I am sure it exists.

The special order Metallic paints were only offered as special order by a paying customer so most of these cars are in standard colors like black, white, red, silver etc.

Pricing is high and on the rise because of rarity and the fact that they are such a raw sports car feel that the newer cars lack. A handful to drive but very capable and tons of fun. Not everyones taste but neither were the 930's. many low mileage cars commanding serious premiums exceeding the pricing of 993TT's. More used models are fetching about the same or slightly less than a comparable 993TT. Both exceeding the market for the 996TT because they over produced the 996's.

Do your research thoroughly if looking for a 94. They are pricey and many things can devalue them. The "Speedline for Porsche" modular wheels specific to this model are nearly impossible to find and can be worth as much as $5k on resale value. Make sure the etching is still in tact or they are not copies.

the 91-92's aren't in much greater supply but command about $10-15k less than a comparable 3.6T. They also don't have the 18" wheels or the Big red brakes first used on the 94 in red and the 928 GTS in black.

There were only 309 92 mod. made for N.American market and according to Porsche North America 287 of them went to the U.S.A. and there was no silver as a standard color. They were all special order colors. The mint green and also signal green was a standard color.

The numbers I have are 674 for 1991 3.3l and 309 1992 3.3l with 289 1992's coming into the US as regular turbos and 20 coming in and sent to Andial then modified as the S2's which was basically the euro X33 package. Although there is still some controversy over how many 1991 cars came into the US could be more but nobody knows for sure.

Here is a chart of the colors offered in 1992. The metallic paints were special order, although the technik manual I have says Polar silver was offered as a standard color.

The chart I posted matches the Technik documents issued by the Factory. I will have to double check silver but I do have 2 sources saying it is special order. Here is one Adrian's book is another http://members.rennlist.com/jfk964/color_options.htm
The technik info is usually published at the beginning of production so it is not always correct since Porsche has been known to make changes. Although I have a sales book published by PCNA as a guide to the sales people and it says Polar silver was standard and Zermatt was Special order. But I found several things incorrectly published in this book.

A8 would be the internal paint code not the one used to order paint. You would use 92E or 92M (WB) to order polar silver paint. Although most info is usually flawed. The link I posted doesn't have cobalt blue as a special order for 1994 yet my car is and I know of 2 others panted in cobalt.

Adrian Streather has 15 standard colors and 47 special order paints with your options 998 special order from previous 911 series and 999 special order color sample provided by customer. So it is hard to know the absolute truth sometimes.
