I wish I had, but there aren't any dealer cars out there yet. There's a production delay. First dealer cars are expected to roll off the production at the end of this month. I'm definitely looking forward to drive the car.

I drove a Rhodium silver car. They also have a white Turbo and a black Turbo S, but both were for a testdrive with other customers. I didn't have the chance to compare the Turbo and Turbo S but I don't think that there is much difference, especially when driving on public roads.

I'm still not sure what to do if I'm honest. It is the looks that's holding me back from ordering a Turbo (S). Also the fact that the car is too fast for use on public roads (from a rational point of view) is something that holds me back. Switzerland has more speedcams than roadsigns and the fines here are very, very high. That said... Even a base Boxster is too fast if you look at it from a rational view.

What I like about the Turbo (S), is the fact that because of the low end torque, the car feels (and is) fast at legal speeds. I have a BMW M550d as a daily driver, which has even more torque than the 991 Turbo S, but that car made me realize that it is more fun at legal speeds. It's a diesel and doesn't make much revs, sound is poor, but the car is fun to drive. Same goes for the Porsche 991 Turbo (S), which has the additional benefit of being a true sportscar when you really push the pedal to the metal.

A C4S needs to be driven slightly more aggressive to get that fun/rush and that means often breaking the speedlimit, but is a little more rewarding.
Not a problem on beautiful mountainroads without speed cams, but on main roads with traffic and lots of speedcams it feels like a puppy that isn't allowed to play. Unfortunatly it's not Germany, where you can unleash the car more often. (Although less and less)

On the other hand... The looks of the C4S still are so much better than the Turbo, which has a messy design IMO. The Turbo cab however looks better than the regular cab though, but I don't think I want a cab. Difficult choice to make. Also waiting for some more details on the Targa.

Untill that time I'm happy with my Boxster S...

I can understand the inability to fully utilize the car. I think here in Hong Kong where there is so much traffic and so little road, there are only 3 stretches of road which I know of that are designated 110 km/h. The vast majority are 70 km/h. We have a fair few speed cams too.

I have never really had a strong emotion for the cab on the C2S/C4S or even the new Turbo. The fabric (although it's magnesium beneath), messes the roof line of the car somewhat IMO. I wish they would just take the fabric away and have it like the California. The Boxster in my opinion is the best looking cab for P.

Regarding the looks, I will need to wait till the beginning of next year to see the real thing in person. I hope it looks better in person which I think it will. On a final note, PSE isn't available on the Turbo I believe? In that respect, an ordinary S with PSE would probably sound alot better...

The car is just too fast for the public roads in most countries. Luckily I drive a lot in Germany, so I would be able to use the car at its full potential so now and then.

The roofline of the 991 generation cabs is in fact exactly the same as the coupe's roofline. The only difference is the side windows. The rear quarter window is a lot smaller in the cab en doesn't have the signature shape.
I woulod hate it if there was a folding hardtoip on a 911. I can accept it on a Ferrari California which is a luxurious GT/convertible, but not on a sportscar like the 911.
I agree that the Boxster is the best looking open top vehicle, Porsche offers at the moment. But that car is developed as a roadster, the 911 isn't deveoped as a convertible. It's much easier to make a coupe out of a roadster, than making a convertible out of a coupe

The Turbo definitely looks a lot better in person. I have never been a fan of 911 Turbos, but this one is the first Turbo to draw my attention. I think it really is the best daily driving sportscar in the world.
There's indeed no PSE available and sound is not as good as it is in the Carrera with PSE, but it's an awful lot better than the 997 Turbo which really sounded like nothing. The Turbo has a deeper growl but not as crisp as the NA Carrera.
That said, I use the PSE on my Boxster less and less. When the car was new, I loved it. Now I mostly switch it off when driving in town or on the highway. I only switch it on when driving on mountain roads or at places where no people live. It gets annoying from time to time in crowded places, so the sound of the Turbo would be enough for me.

Don't know if this is important to you, but the current R8 design is at the end of its life cycle, and is due for a redesign next year, I think, along with the Gallardo. So if you buy one now you will have an old style in a short time.

I had both a 997 gen 1 TT cab and 997 gen 1 GT3. The turbo has the appeal of torque otherwise the GT3 is way more fun and involving. Turbo's will be way more common as production is unlimited. The credible reviews of the 991 Turbo S and the 991 GT3 make it obvious the GT3 is considered the best sports car in the world. The Turbo S is an all round GT car. Hope this helps!

Sort of depends on what you want to do. The Turbo Cab is a good DD based on my experience with 997, never drove a GT3 but if I ever went to add another Porsche to the garage it would be a GT3. I would never give up the Cab, I like being able to put the top down and have a nice drive out in the country. Just my 2 cents.

Thank You petec4s and Grgx3 for your help. Now looking at pictures of the Turbo Cabrio I'm kind of leaning towards that now. Just to put the top down is an awesome feeling. But also that glass roof is very appealing as well.

congrats on the money bro, being you I'd spend hours looking at the options I can get with the money, and possibly get the best car I can with the budget I have so buying an r8 and a turbo would be cool but personally I'd get an aventador, or something in the next level. just my .2 cents

Thank you man. I love the r8 and the 911's always have, that's why I'm getting them. I'm for sure going to order a Ferrari 458 spyder. But also I was thinking of the Aventador or F12, but that's a discussion for another day. And I literally spend hours specing up cars they way
I want, so I finally saved a list of the prices of the cars that I build. Haha

well, tracking a car is the ultimate sport so if you are willing to enjoy some weekends at the track you should buy a gt3 which is a street ready track car. If you are not willing to take track lessons then the 911 turbo s is your best choice. personally I would recommend getting the gt3 and go to the porsche driving school so you can go to the track every other weekend. believe me, you will be thrilled.

I was thinking about that. But I thought that if I got the Turbo S coupe I could just use that instead of the GT3. And watching videos of the GT3, reviewers were saying that the GT3 could easily be used every day so that's where my head was at. I also I feel that the Turbo S will be quicker in my hands, since I am still not the most experienced driver yet but maybe that's the reason why I should go to driving school...
