991 Turbo Cabrio vs GT3
991 Turbo Cabrio vs GT3
Hello all,
I just came into a lot of money and trying to make my Porsche 911 purchase, which I am very excited about. I'm torn between the Turbo cabrio or GT3. I know that these two are different cars (in a sense) I love convertibles for the obvious reasons. But the new GT3 also looks breathtaking. I will be using the car almost as a daily driver. I have a SUV and I am also getting some kind of sedan but I will def be using the Porsche as much as possible no doubt. I was also maybe thinking about buying a Audi R8 Cabrio and a GT3 also? Please help. Thank you.

Haha maybe I am a little bit. But I just really don't know. I love all three cars I'm just trying to get your guys opinions on what I should do. And the Aventador and 458 will come a little bit later down the road.
Wow...me too. I just got rich quick and am sooo confused as to which car to buy
Guess I'll just go drive a few and see which I like best instead of asking a bunch of guys what they like best

Congrats on your new wealth.
I would suggest you take several trips to spots where these types of vehicles can be driven first. Obviously some models you mention are not available yet but I would still wait. You'll likely get bored with anything you purchase and want the next and so on...depending on how much cash you intend to spend.
What are you looking to accomplish most - standout out, e.g. Lamborghini, Ferrari or more sensible combo of performance, style, etc.

Well if you have too much money and don't know what to do (buy) with it, send it this way, I know exactly what I'd buy.
I will give you my honest opinion, but first I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. It's a friendly forum full of knowledgeable people and car enthusiasts.
Now, even if you wanted a 991 turbo convertible, such an animal doesn't exist yet. The 991 GT3 will start rolling off the assembly and into Porsche show rooms by the end of the year or early next. I don't quite remember when the 991 turbo is supposed to be out, but if I recall correctly, it's about the same time. So keep that in mind. The 991 convertible is possibly over a year from now.
You say you're gonna daily drive the car. Well based on that fact alone, it seems like the turbo is the best car. You can search my post on the other 991 turbo or GT3 thread. Basically, if you don't track the car regularly AND are not an advanced level driver, you will not use the car to its full potential and to me, doesn't make much sense. The turbo will be faster in your hands. In fact, the turbo is faster in most hands really. And if weather and road conditions degrade, then even pro hands will be faster in a turbo.
Now I understand that people would buy the GT3 for other reasons like how it feels, how it looks and what not. But these are really personnal reasons and only you can answer those.

Curious post.... Gt3 or Tubro Cabrio? Why did you pick these? Might be best to hire one or test drive a few to form a clearer picture. Research and discover the differences, Porsche have variants like no other. Once you know what you are looking at, you can focus. Then spend some time on the forum reading others experience, especially regarding the options. If you are buying new, the options are many and expensive. If you have a burning hole in your pocket, go the Gt3, motoring at it's purest. After years of trying to find the perfect car, you realise that you need a big garage and lots of money. Easy money is easily lost.

....geez what a dilemma to be faced with.
As a suggestion to OP maybe just buy an aircraft hanger and spend all that new found fortune on a string of exotic motor vehicles. That way you won't need to ask for advice.....you can give it.

Well to answer some questions here real quick. I like cabrio's, I've always have so that's why I'm debating it. I'm def not an experienced driver by any means so that's why right now I'm thinking about going for the Turbo S and also the Audi R8 V10 Spyder.
