The need of PDCC

Hello all,

I currently have a P4S, came from a C4S (997.2) and am interested in buying the new turbo. I drive mostly street, curvy roads for fun, track the car maybe 2 times per year just for kicks, nothing seroious.

Do I really need PDCC and am I going to benefit from it that much on the street?

I just cant beleive that the base suspension on a turbo is lacking and that PDCC is a must. Any insight would be nice.

The base suspension is never lacking on any of the Porsches, however you really have to drive a PDCC car to see if it's for you.

Almost every person that I know of personally have said that PDCC is probably not necessarily and it's just a Porsche gimmick. "Like how good can it be?". Mind you, this is before they have ever driven a PDCC car...

Well after the test drive of a PDCC vehicle, every single friend of mine changed their minds to ," damn that makes a huge difference." We are not racers, trackers or anything out of the ordinary but in my opinion the PDCC is worth it no matter what kind of diving you do.

I would suggest you consider the Gt3 instead. It is still a great street car and cheaper than the turbo. You can't get pdcc on it even if you wanted to. Your dilemma solved.

There's a reason for that. Much stiffer anti-roll bars, so no body roll negating the need.

AKBJR: IMHO PDCC is not offered in the GT3 as Nikolas has mentioned the GT3 has much stiffer ARB & the car is also lowered than std 911s by about 25-30mm. Also not forgetting to shave some weights too. Ammersa has suggested getting a GT3 & I think is an option you can seriously consider. After reading all the reviews on the GT3, it seems that it rides very well on the road even better than the std 911s. Is now more road friendly than ever before. Only downside is too low for road use especially going over humps you have to be real careful. Saw the Turbo S in metal & it def looks much better than in pix. Still it can't beat the GT3 looks wise. Never like the front especially the front air-intake. With Active Aerodynamics I don't think they can come up with a fixed spoiler kit just like they have fitted to the 997.2 Turbo S from Porsche Exclusive.

Thanks guys, you don't think the GT3 would be too harsh on the street. I have a winter car, so in Chicago driving it in the snow would be limited anyway. I just thought a turbo street ride would be way more tolerable than a GT3.

No, not at all. Perhaps that can be said for the previous gt3, but the 991 Gt3 is basically a track/race inspired street car with daily drivability in mind. The ride is much improved for daily use. Also pdk, makes it more of daily driver than ever before.

You can also order the GT3 with a front axle lift option for those speed bumps and driveway approaches. It's pricey, but I ordered it.

I'll be ordering a Turbo this week as well and have been reading about PDCC. I track my '13 GT500, and don't expect to put the 991 on the track frequently, but probably a few times a year (Sebring, Daytona, Roebling, etc.).
With the build I'm planning at ~$163k, I'm thinking PDCC at ~$3100 is worth adding.
