ACRman is infamous around these parts
Well I think with a remap / light mods to 600 plus hp the 991 would wax it completely despite being heavier

Absolutely love the fact that the Macca pulled on the GT-R, even though this was from a standstill.

FWIW....In the Dec "Excellence" magazine review, the testing/tech guy said that the HP difference between the base Turbo & Turbo S was handled through only a remap of the ECU. No other changes.

Interesting...Didn't think the 991 was THAT fast. Obviously I knew it was fast, but I thought the 12C would do a little better.

Apparently Excellence Magazine didn't have the full story & according to this you are correct...

http://fortyonesix.com/news/1320/por...ers-turbo-s-fo

EDIT:

In rereading the Excellence article 12/13 issue (pp 62) interview w/August Achleitner, director of 911 product line, he did state that the thicker piston crowns compared to the 997 Turbo were changed in the 991 Turbo to withstand "greater combustion pressure" w/no change in in the 9.8:1 compression ratio. They go on to say the Turbo S motor is mechanically unchanged from the base Turbo, relying purely on an ECU software remap for its extra power & torque.

The 997TTS did the same thing in a drag against the mp4, it pulls it till about 80mph then the mp4 reels it in and passes. No surprise with AWD, near no turbo lag advantage and a 60hp disadvantage to the 991.

So you want to see a modded/tuned 991 TTS vs a stock McLaren?

Would it be more fair to see a tuned 991 TTS vs a tuned McClaren?

Yes there are tunes/mods for the McLaren too. I know because I raced a modded/tuned McLaren at an airstrip event a few weeks ago and it destroyed my GIAC tuned 997.2 TTS.
