991 TTS 'vert vs 458 Spider
I love the scuds.
I own a 458 have had a F 430 and a 599. I also own a 991 Turbo. They are all a different experience. I have people ask me nearly as many questions about my turbo. I haven't had any unpleasant experiences. I also don't mind questions. I asked them once. I have had several young guys ask me how to get one. Not a bad thing.
I hope I can always own a Ferrari and a Porsche. They are all awesome machines.

Or we can keep it on topic since the OP is asking questions for his buying decision.
I just sold my 2013 458 coupe and bought a 2014 991 turbo s, I will have to agree that the turbo hands down is much faster, the drivability is much more comfy, the radio in the 458 was like a 1990 escort, my friends did give me crap about "oh must be nice" kinda statements with the 458. insurance on Porsche is $100 a month less, and I never keep the long enough to maintain other that cleaning.
I havent been on the board for a bit and this thread hit 5 pages! I breezed through them and I hope that I don't sound like every other post.
I think the supermodel vs GF/wife analogy really works. I love my 458 spider and it is spectacular in every way. The sounds it makes after a year of driving it still make me giddy. It is beautiful, crafted and amazing. The ONLY downside is that it gets a TON of attention. It draws people of all ages and you will get surrounded by people taking pics and videos. I find myself looking at it in the garage and think "do I really want to mess with all that today?". Thus I have put only 1500 miles in 10 months. My California has 5000 miles in the same amount of time (don't be a hater).
My Panamera has 80,000 in three years! Ive had every iteration of the 911 turbo for the last 20 years and it is a completely different car. Very Germanic, staid, stupid fast, and reliable. I wouldnt hesitate to put several hundred thousand miles on it.
I love Ferraris but I consider myself a Porsche guy. I tell people that you have to drive both and the answer will be obvious.
I don't think I helped, lol

The 458 is out of my budget right now, maybe in a year or so. But if I could "date" a Gisele Bundchen or Olivia Wilde for only $250k for a couple years, OMG, who wouldn't. Since I'm more the George Castanza, Danny Devito type, it's going to take more than the Ferrari to land me a super model
I almost got the new turbo s and my wife encouraged it. For a little more I could get a low optioned 458 Ferrari. Which I think is the most beautiful car in the world. My dd is a truck and Cayenne diesel, which I love so my Porsche Carrera S and future 458 is a weekend driver.
I had the first BMW Z8 in NC in 2000 (or 2001). The Bond movie just came out and I got SO much attention. As others have said, it got old… but I would sure like the sound and looks of the super model 458 someday

Thanks for all the comments - trying to decide whether to date Giselle or the girl next-door....
Does Ferrari have a tyre program similar to Porsche? Tyre fitment and balancing can only be done by the dealership here while Ferrari outsources this to a local tyre shop.....
Cheers,
