Noise under the shifter.

Hey guys,

I've had the car(991 Turbo S) for about a month now, and last night I took her out, pulled up at a petrol station, flipped the shifter to N, and when I released the brake pedal some weird noise(slight vibration) from below the shifter happened and lasted like 2-3 seconds. Ever since whenever the shifter is in P or N, and I press the brake pedal a noise clicks under the shifter.

I heard it could be the gear selector lock that's connected to the brake. But I'm not sure, specially since that 3secs long noise happened. It was almost the same as when you try to select a gear in a manual car without pressing the clutch, you get a gear vibration.

Any ideas? I'm sure that clicking noise was not around before that little incident. The car only has 3200KMs on it.

I had the same noise happen to my car few times. I also thought it was the gear shift selector lock being too sensitive when u dont have ur foot pressed very firmly.

Thanks for replying,

It's constant now, I'm still confused. Is this normal? The car drives no problem. It's sort of giving me a headache, it hasn't occured until that cranking/vibration happened. Not sure what to make of it. You said few times, did you do anything to get rid of the noise? or did it go by itself

If its a constant noise that you are getting and are able to demonstrate it to the dealer then take it in to get checked out. Mine occasionally happens and only then for a second or two when im stationary, so didnt concern me much. Would be interested to see what the dealer diagnoses ot as being
