Is a 991 Turbo more of a GT than 991 C4s or C2s
On my C4s Build I'm already at $150k, so moving to a turbo if in fact it is more of a GT, would sway me in that direction.
If so, I was curious as to why the Turbo would be more of a GT than a C4s or C2s?

Ride quality is a bit smoother on the TT than my C2S. That's the only way I'd say it's more of a GT. If you're going to build a 150k C4S, IMHO, you're better off going w/ a lightly optioned TT, which you can do w/ the essential options for the mid 160s.
Both cars would be considered gt, but the turbo is a very fast gt car. But buying a turbo for 10k more will be a challenge, you'll likely start adding up the options real quick. Next thing you'll know you won't want anything other than the turbo S. Good luck.
The Turbo is INTOXICATING...as was the PSE.
I had a 991 4S Cabrio for about 8 months and loved it. Although, around town, I had to keep the revs up to feel the giddy up and with the PSE, I felt like I was a nuisance in the neighborhood
I got my Turbo Cab a few months ago (custom built) and I haven't looked back! The torque, smoothness and day to day drivability is phenomenal...now, I'm also coming from a tuned SL600 (TT V12) which was nice but, didn't come close to the handling of the Turbo. I'm 6'3" and the interior of the 991 is very similar in size to the SL and I'm very comfortable but, again, I haven't looked back. I had a SL63 on order a few years ago and declined delivery once I saw how ugly it was in person as did 50% of SL preorders at my dealer.
I didn't get an S because I didn't need the Carbon Brakes as won't take a Cab to a track but, LOADED it up with everything else and plan to tune it when software becomes available. So, I'll have same hp as a tuned S. Not sure if I really need it knowing how willing it is around town currently.
I'll keep this girl for a number of years so, the option hit won't be as painful because of the many years of joy to come

Not having driven a TTS or even a TT prior to taking delivery of my '14 TT Cab, I couldn't justify the extra $30K of the TTS for what it offered over a TT.
I find it very curious with all the comparos we see on YouTube between TTS vs just about every other current super car, there has yet to be a direct comparison of a TTS vs TT much less a TT vs other super cars.
Sure makes me wonder why that is....

Both cars are considered GT cars. Electric steering, automatic transmissions, etc. If it were my money, I would def get a Turbo for $150K. To me, the power difference as well as the looks difference is important at that price point. Either way, congrats on the car.

As with the OP, once I started optioning out a C4S it was well over $140k. It became clear that what I really wanted was a TT. The dealer I worked with didn't have a TTS allocation left so I ended up evaluating whether or not I really wanted the TTS over the TT. I didn't want the LED's, PDCC, PCCB and a few other standard items on the TTS and opted for the TT. I did, however, end up adding PCCB's to it. And since I planned on a flash either way, I am perfectly happy with my choice.

A GT is supposed to be defined as a high performance vehicle "suitable for high speed journeys in style and comfort" and in reality, can light wt sporty-looking porsche 911s give you that? I've had my turbo for 6 years and because of its sporty racetrack look, my wife won't even sit in it, and it seems like that is the opinion of most of her so-called upper crust fashionable friends as well.
I know the Brits, for example, like to refer to the Porsche TT as a "GT", but IMO, they are incorrect. It's virtually the same length as the C2S and C4S; and as many folks here have already said, there are many more true GT cars out there- the Jag XKR, various Astons, the Maserati GranTurismo, BMW Z4, Ferrari F12, 599, etc, and so forth- THOSE are GT cars.
I believe the Brits tend to incorrectly categorize the Porsche TT because of its true dual-nature... not only is it a fabulous performance car, but it's also a very, VERY good DD. But just because it's a great DD, doesn't make it a GT. YMMV.

As previously stated, I'd love to see a real world comparo via YouTube with a credible tester between the 991 TT and TTS, in the same vein as has been done between the TTS and virtually every other super-car.. ie. track lap times, 1/4 mile times, run ups to top end comparisons, back to back street comparisons etc...
Thinking Porsche may not like to showcase the differences that is costing buyers +$30K.
New price, new colours, new packages... 2015 moldel I think?

Oh, also the exhaust note is noticeably louder on the TTS. I do like that.

I realize it's all very subjective when t comes to likes but I traded my 991 TT coupe for a 991 TTS cab and I IMMENSELY prefer the handling with PDCC and I would never trade PCCB for steel brakes after having had them. They perform well and just the lack of brake dust is worth it. Plus, if it matters-they sure look nice. Same with the TTS CL wheels. Worth $30K? I think so but again-personal preference. I do however think it is relevant in terms of resale that approx. 60% of buyers opt to go with the TTS. The Cabriolet part is not why I traded. It just sort of happened. I actually traded to order a TTS coupe but one day a cab showed up and I bought it. It was the extra options that did it for me.

I'm not sure how someone could possibly measure with any objectivity a street driven car with PDCC and PCCB vs one without, and really... less brake dust as the tipping point?!
Now take it to a track and drive 8-10ths like Chris Harris then sure I could understand! BUT not many in here qualify with those credentials... and how many TT/S will actually ever see a track??
And of the quoted 60% buying TTS vs TT, how many bought based on journalist reports that did not ever include TT based cars?
The cool-aid sure looked like it tasted good, but still I'd love to see a head to head measure between the TT and TTS..... if Porsche would permit it!

Bottom line, hopefully TTS owners are happy, as well, TT owners with their "personal choice"!! So far so good here!!
