Hi all - I currently drive a C2S (7MT), and after being smitten with the TT bug after a test drive, I have ordered a TT which should be here in the next 4 weeks or so.

Over last winter, I ran my C2S on OEM Carrera S rims with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4’s, with the following specs: front 8.5J x 20, ET 51 (245/35 R 20); rear 11J x 20, ET 70 (295/30 R 20). My summer rims are the Carrera Classics that came with the car.

My TT will have the stock Turbo rims, with the following specs: front 8.5J x 20 RO 51 (245/35 ZR 20); rear 11J x 20 RO 56 (305/30 ZR 20). I know that Porsche actually recommends a 295/30 R 20 rear winter tire for the car, but the question is whether the the Carrera S rims will work on the Turbo despite the different offsets? Will I need a spacer (in the front and/or the rear) in order to use them?

Not getting a firm answer either way from my dealer's service department.

With the C2S rims I can't imagine you running them without spacers as the TT is 3 inches wider. I have rss 7mm spacers off my last 991 I ran for 6 months and don't plan on using them on my TT. PM if you want me to ship them to NY.

 

I think it might work. I also had a C2S last winter, and the wheels and tires that I used for winter were 19 inch BBS wheels with a 56 rear offset. So if the C2S could be driven on rear wheels that have either a 70 or 56 rear offset, why can't the TT? No spacers either.

There is a guy Lunarx in the forum who seems to know quite a bit about wheels and tires. You may want to try PMing him as well.

 

I would be very cautious, the AWD system could be damaged with incorrect wheel/tire combos which change the loads from design specs.
